FAQs

I’ve never practiced before! What should I expect?

If you’re completely new to yoga - you’re in the right place, my classes are always beginners friendly. I am also available for one-to-one teaching if you would like to work on more detailed technique through a slower and more thorough style of practice.

A flow class will include accessible guided poses, breathing exercises and meditation techniques. The aim is to help you feel a sense of freedom, stability and strength in your own body.

A yin class will include long hold poses and the space for introspection and inquiry. The perfect space to explore meditative practice.

Everyone’s body is different and it’s important to remember that this is a practice that builds and changes with time. There may be poses that feel difficult in your first few classes that you learn to relish after a couple of months. Try not to compare your unique self to your neighbour and trust that you’ll be building physical and mental strength just by coming back to the mat again and again. It’s all about the journey.

Practicing in person - How do I get to Victoria Park Pilates?

Victoria Park Pilates is accessed from a side gate on Cadogan Terrace, just 10 meters away from the main park gate. Go through this gate, past St Augustine’s Cottage and into the garden of the running club. On the left is the Main Hall used by the running club themselves. Victoria Park Pilates is a smaller building in the far corner of the garden. You’ll see a flight of stone steps, head up and you’ll find us on the top floor.

Do I need my own mat?

No - Victoria Park Pilates has mats that you are welcome to borrow for practice. However you may choose to bring your own if you prefer.

I’m pregnant! Can I still practice yoga?

It’s recommended that you don’t practice yoga within the first 12 weeks of your pregnancy. After 12 weeks, you are welcome to come to my class but please do let me know in advance so I can prepare adjustments for the sequence. As always, practice moderation, listen to your body and rest whenever you need to.

If you’re attending a breathwork class, please note that there are some parts of the practice including breath retention that will not be suitable.

I would also recommend attending a pregnancy specific class so you can learn more about the best way to approach the practice in your changing body.

I can’t come to the class I’ve booked for. What should I do?

You can cancel your booking up to an hour before the class starts and you’ll receive a full refund. This does not apply to events and workshops which are unfortunately non-refundable due to limited capacity.

Anything I’ve missed? Feel free to get in touch with me directly for more information on what to expect.
